I chose the size of my frame based on my height. Because I wanted it to be all of me and a little more. Since I am 62 inches, I decided I wanted my frame to be 72 inches. I also chose that number because 72 is divisible by 24 and I knew I was going to have to find the scale factor later on so I made it easier for myself by going with that number.
The prop I used was my kite that I built. Well almost built. I used it to represent how I start a lot of things and projects that I do on my own but I don’t usually finish them and the kite was an example of that.
The pose that I did was just me holding the kite and I had my arm acting as if I was saying “oh well” because i’m pretty easy going and I feel like its pretty difficult of people to bother me unless I really am in a bad mood and i’m usually a go with the flow kind of person. My expression was just me looking at the camera with my awkward face because I find myself to be in a lot of awkward situations and I find a lot of things weird and awkward, like me not finishing a project even though there’s just a few steps left. Usually it’s just me who thinks it is but that’s just who I am even though I try not to be but I still tend to feel that way. But I also feel like my expression was like the “oh well” expression too for the same reason I said earlier.
The way I set up the photoshoot, I know that AB is parallel to DE. ∠ACB is congruent to ∠DCE because of the vertical angles postulate. ∠ABC is congruent to ∠EDC because of the alternate interior angles postulate. So by the angle angle postulate, △ABC is similar to △DEC.
I determined the length of how far I needed to be away from the camera by using the height of my frame, the height of my film, and my focal length (the distance from the pinhole to the film). Since the height of my frame was 72 and the height of my film was 24, that was just divided by 3. I basically did the same thing for the distance except I timesed it by 3 since it was the same but reversed. So since the focal length was 10, I got my distance to be 30.
Project Reflection: What I learned in this project was how to build a camera and how taking pictures with pinhole cameras actually works. Because before I did this project, I had no idea what a pinhole camera was and how it worked. I remember when Jocelyn first gave us the hand out on how to build one I was still so confused by how you actually could take a picture and just one tiny hole for the light to go through. But now I know. Yet it still amazes me how its actually possible. I enjoyed the project because I can now say I actually built a working camera that can take pictures and that to me, is awesome. If I were given the opportunity to do something differently, I would try to build another camera that would take pictures with film and spend a lot of time on it and perfect it because I tried doing that but I wasn't able to figure out what was wrong with it in time. So if I had another chance to change something, that's what I would do.
